From courier to General Manager and Labor Lawyer, Joe Bonilla is one of Muñoz Tamayo & Asociados‘ success stories. He has been with us since 1996, and is a shining example of personal merit and dedication, and the support and interest MTA has in advancing the careers of its team members.

He has worked on major transactions such as the establishment of Marriott hotels in Colombia, and the transfer of personnel from Ecogas to TGI. His hands-on experience includes providing legal counsel to PDVSA, the Venezuelan petroleum giant, when it expanded its operations and needed to train its employees in Colombia.

Joe’s special interest in Sports law led him to co-author the bill that became Law No. 221 of 2005, which establishes the minimum parameters for contract signing between sports clubs and professional athletes. He has also advised foreign sports clubs in transactions involving Colombian players. Currently, Joe serves as legal counsel to Bogotá’s professional football team, Azul y Blanco – Millonarios F.C. S.A, for all matters concerning labor and sports law.
