Regarding employees there is the possibility of short-time work. The employer can reduce or suspend the working time of the employees. The instrument of short-time work compensation makes it possible to compensate for temporary job losses and to maintain jobs. Accordingly, the employee does not lose their employment, are still covered by the social insurance and will not have any or big contributions gaps for savings. Due to the pandemic, the conditions under which short-time work compensation can be claimed have been temporarily eased. In addition, please see para. 3.8 of the Bratschi document. Furthermore, compensations for loss of earning for employees are provided. Entitled to such compensation are especially  parents who have to interrupt their gainful employment due to school closures in order to care for their children.
