project for education

Legalink moved forward a fundraising initiative in New Delhi. Over 22,000 INR were donated to the Him Jyoti Foundation in November 2015.

The Him Jyoti Foundation empowers girls through education in a boarding school environment totally free of cost.

Established in 2005 with the aim of empowering the girl child through education, this school helps remove all impediments from their path and provide quality education to girls from socio-economically deprived families, in a boarding school environment totally free of cost. It facilitates girls from backward rural areas to lead a purposeful life and become future decision makers and nation builders with a strong sense of right and wrong.

The Him Jyoti School, a bold and ambitious initiative of the newly founded Himalayan School Society, is a residential school for bright girls from socio-economically deprived families of Uttarakhand. The school was established in 2005, with 15 girls and one teacher. A rented building in Dehradun served as the first premises for the school.

Thereafter, a state-of-the-art campus has been set up on a 10 acre plot of land, allotted by the State Government. The building was completed in 2007 and inaugurated in October 2007 by the Chief Minister General B.C. Khanduri in the presence of H.E. Shri Sudarshan Agarwal. The school is equipped with the finest furniture and equipment, laboratories, activity centre, playgrounds and a hostel to accommodate over 250 students.
The school currently has 254 girls in Classes V to XII. 35 new students are admitted every year in April, after a careful screening process.

The nascent institution is the outcome of concerted support from compassionate individuals, Trusts and Corporate Houses, conscious of their Corporate Social Responsibility. They have contributed generously and ungrudgingly to a noble cause. Besides helping build a corpus fund, many philanthropists have come forward to adopt girls, to support them in their education.

Him Jyoti depends on the continued support of such generous sponsors.
