Legalink member from Brazil, Felsberg & Associados advises steel manufacturer Tramontina, one of Brazil’s largest manufacturer of stainless steel cutlery, on antidumping procedure in Argentina
Felsberg e Associados Advises Tramontina on Antidumping Procedure in Argentina
At the beginning of October, following months of intense negotiation, the Argentine Government approved a voluntary price agreement presented by Brazilian manufacturing company Tramontina. The agreement sees minimum prices being fixed for the exporting of the company’s stainless steel cutlery to the neighbouring country.
As a consequence of a voluntary price agreement with Brazilian stainless steel manufacturer Tramontina, the Argentine Government has agreed to suspend its investigation into the company’s supposed dumping in its sales to the neighbouring country.
The Felsberg e Associados International Trade team, led by Ambassador Sérgio Amaral, provided Tramontina with the legal advice it needed for the successful outcome of negotiations with the Argentine Government.
Tramontina is Brazil’s largest exporter of stainless steel cutlery to Argentina, being responsible for approximately 42% of the country’s total imports of the product in 2008.
“We have obtained a very successful outcome in this antidumping investigation, since the Argentine Government agreed to establish a price undertaking only for Tramontina's products, while other exporters, especially from China, will probably have to bear margins of up to 1,400%”, says Ambassador Sergio Amaral, Partner at Felsberg e Associados.
